Ocean world

Benthos
Not yet surveyed.
Benthos is a stunning ocean world, the deep salty blue stretches on seemingly forever, broken only by the few small islands scatted across its surface. Despite its seemingly placid, tranquil scenery, however, Benthos is full of many surprises.
Near the islands, the ocean is fresh and clear, teaming with sea life of all shapes and sizes. Four legged amphibious creatures lounge on the rocks, basking in the sun as the waves lap against the shore. Near the many rocky cliffs, a variety of deep-diving creatures swim in the cold water upwellings that bring nutrient-rich water from the hidden depths below.
In the far ocean, where the sun rarely touches, is a deep mysterious world where no human has ventured. Strange fish, giant creatures, and undersea caverns, create a strange and wondrous world that is beyond the scope of any imagination.
Benthos is truly as charming as it is mysterious and dangerous. Yet despite its perils, it remains an amazing and inviting place to explore.

Endemic species
The Sabaal
The Sabaal is a species of fish-like creatures native to the planet Benthos. They are six-limbed amphibians that are able to spend just as much time in the water as they can on land. Their bodies are covered in wiry fur that helps keep them warm in the cold abyss below and helps them blend in to their rocky riverside homes, where they spend most of their time. They are active during the day and rest in crevices of the rocks at night.
The Sabaal communicate in a complex pattern of clicks, whistles, and chirps, and have an innate sense of direction, allowing them to navigate the deep ocean and return to their homes repeatedly.
The Sabaal are a proud species, proud of their resilience, adaptability and resourcefulness. They have been known to brave the depths of the ocean to scavenge for food, and have been known to work together in large groups to secure it.
Their curiosity and determination have allowed them to thrive in the depths of Benthos, and have made them beloved by many who visit the planet.
