Nivaria is a planet of stark contrasts—its frozen surface is dominated by endless expanses of snow-covered tundra, but beneath the surface lies an intricate network of underground caverns, warmed by the glow of the planet's volcanoes.
The surface of the planet is illuminated by a dim winter sun, making it an ideal home for creatures with thick fur pelts who can survive comfortably in the icy temperatures. Here, temperatures can drop as low as -50°C during the colder months of the year, so Nivaria's inhabitants have learned to adapt to survive.
Despite its barren surface, the planet's magnetic fields draw in ionized gases from space, creating huge aurorae that light up the night sky in a rainbow of colours. It is a beautiful sight, and one of the few that provide Nivarians any respite from their harsh landscape.
The inhabitants of Nivaria have adapted to their environment, learning to make use of the planet's harshness and making warm fires from the materials they have scavenged from the frozen surface of the planet. For those brave enough to venture out and explore the tundra, the rewards can be great indeed.

The Nivarians are an alien race of fur-covered bipedal creatures adapted to their planet's icy temperatures. Their bodies are short and compact with muscular limbs, allowing them to move easily through the snow-covered terrain of the planet's surface.
Nivarians have strong social bonds and live in large, extended family groups. They have an intricate understanding of their environment, learning how to make use of the planet's resources and build fires to keep their homes warm in the winter months. With their sensitive ears, Nivarians can hear distant conversations and use the aurorae in the night sky to navigate around the planet's surface.
Their fearless nature often leads them to explore the planet's deep underground caverns, where the warmth of the planet's volcanoes provide a welcome respite from their frozen home. Here, Nivarians can find rare resources that are not available on the surface, providing them with food and materials to create clothing and tools.
