Balthus

Not yet surveyed.

Discovered by a team of xenogeologists from the Lycian Union, Balthus is the single most enigmatic planet the galaxy has ever seen. From its upper atmosphere, it appears to be an ordinary, lifeless lava world, but as they descended closer they were immediately struck with awe and confusion. Peering through the planet's translucent crust, they saw the bright glow of the planet's core, the lava tranquilly flowing in vibrant hues of yellow and gold. One of the scientists likened it to what could be described as a miniature star, and the team's confusion only deepened. No one has yet been able to answer the riddle of Balthus, but xenogeologists from all corners of the galaxy have flocked to study it ever since its discovery.

Endemic species

Balthians

The natives of Balthus are a strange species of amphibian-like aliens, who have adapted to living in the molten lava flows of the planet. Their bodies are flexible and spongy, allowing them to navigate the treacherous, jagged landscape of the planet's surface. They have two eyestalks that allow them to see in the dark, and their flesh is coated with a natural heat-resistant wax. One of the most fascinating traits of these creatures is the way they communicate - they are able to detect the magnetic waves emanating from the planet's core and convert them into a strange language that has yet to be deciphered by the Lycian Union.
